SWANWelcome to the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria.
The Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria, SWAN, was inaugurated in Nigeria on Friday 28th April, 1978 by a ten (10) man founding members initiated by Chief (Mrs.) Elizabeth Adegite (FCA, PP, JP), with the primary aim to bring together, qualified women of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), and to assist the Institute in the protection of the Charter, Status, interests of the female members and promoting and maintaining high standards of efficiency and professional conduct.
Total membership of SWAN as at April 1978 was 36. This grew to 1,500 members within 20 years in 1998. As at 2018, the Institute has over 10,000 SWAN members

SWAN Monthly Meetings
The monthly meeting is the business meeting of the Society at which it’s activities are highlighted and planned.
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
SWAN holds its AGM during the ICAN Annual Accountants Conference every year.
Seminars
Sexual harassment seminars are usually held in tertiary institutions bi-annually to sensitize university
